I have little to no faith in Che, because its reaction in the US will mirror what happened in Cannes. In two words that reaction will be: horribly mixed. It will have its supporters, but most will probably hate it. It sounds painful to sit through, to be honest.

Also my lineup right now is:

Viggo Mortenson- The Road (The frontrunner as fas as I'm concerned)
Frank Langella- Frost/ Nixon (could the trailer have been any more baity)
Daniel Craig- Defiance (He is due by now)
Brad Pitt- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Sean Penn- Milk

I, for one, am not feeling Dicaprio in either of his roles.

I'm sure Del Toro is great, but I've always been a bit skeptical that a 4-hour movie about a Communist guerilla revolutionary is going to go over really well. And for me, DiCaprio is just not interesting anymore. It's like he's hit a plateau. Although maybe the movie will see some kind of leap forward for him.

Liam Neeson is an interesting choice - Eyre is certainly a great director for actors (he directed the Royal Shakespeare Company for years), especially ones with larger than life skills like Neeson.

1. Viggo Mortensen, The Road: He's mature, hot and talented 50s actor in a baity role
2. Brad Pitt, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: I don't worry about BB and I think this is his lifetime role.
3. Sean Penn, Milk: Baity role + Into the Wild Snubs + Real life character
4. Frank Langhella, Frost/Nixon: This is enough winning the Oscar after his triumph at TONYs.
5. Leonardo DiCaprio, Revolutionary Road: This would be a hit or miss performance and film...

In the running:

6. Liam Neeson, The Other Man: I confident about him, Eyre film and he's overdue for a long time.
7. Jamie Foxx, The Soloist: I think is a crap film but maybe I'm wrong and he returns to Oscars.
8. Benicio Del Toro, Che: Release date? One or two films? Mixed reviews since Cannes, why would be different in USA? and he's respected to break the language barier?
9. Richard Jenkins, The Visitor: It's not a impossible nomination, but he neds a strong campaign and a lot of critics love.
10. Andrew Garfield, Boy A: He's american young actor in a british film. I know this was a TV Film a yhear ago, but "An Enchanted April" did it with three Oscars Nominations. Excellent reviews to his performance.

I don't really have a problem with the CCOBB, but Pitt's role itself doesn't seem to be very juicy or baitish. People who actually seen the whole thing said that his performance is very subtle.

I won't predict Del Toro becuase his film doesn't have a release date, so it would be a waste of a spot. I'm not worried about TCCOBB. People just saw 20 minutes from a 2 hr and 40 min movie, of course they are goingt to be skeptical and confused.
