Burn, do you think you'll call it quits after just 9?

Im only up to three, but Im gonna see it a few more times. In terms of oscar, I'm confident that its almost a lock for two of them, one being sound design (the scene with Dent's prison transport completely sells it, especially the truck flip).
The other is editing. This is not a film with one main character, it balances four: Wayne, Dent, Gordon, and the Joker. We never lose track of any of them for too long, and the true editing genius emerges in scenes where their stories converge (such as the party raid at Bruce's apartment).

with those two in the bag, and I think sound and a repeat on cinematography are safe too, as well as Ledger's nod, I'd say its becoming a safe bet in more categories.

Strong in make-up, special effects, screenplay (adapted or original?), director, and film, (I think they might even try to squeeze out a nod for Oldman if the field isn't very strong. He is the heart and soul of Nolan's story so far, and Oldman is overdue. It's likely they'll market Ledger, Eckhart, and Oldman together in the ads where they list "fyc in all categories" anyway. The question is will Ledger be the only one to get individual ads.

That's funny, because one of my least favorite directors is named Oliver, as I'm sure you could have predicted.

And sure, when it's finished. And my friend is currently wrapping up the Sundance short film submission online paperwork for a video I wrote and he directed. If anything happens with that, I'll let you know. I may live in the Silicon Valley, or what some call the future, but when you want to be a writer/cinematographer/film editor and, of course, try your hand at directing, the Bay Area isn't as exciting as many here make it out to be.

I'm going to try and recount all the times I saw The Dark Knight.

1. Opening night at midnight.
2. 12 hours later at the first showing of the day with my girlfriend.
3. With my neighbor.
4. Took my little brother.
5. IMAX.
6. With my Argentine friend (who hadn't seen it yet).
7. Again with my Argentine friend after he was totally amazed by it.
8. With my girlfriend and her parents.
9. With my older brother and his girlfriend.

The first time was amazing. I saw tons of people from high school, which was cool (one group of people who I was on newspaper saw me and grabbed me and lifted me up), then when the movie started, there were some clipping issues and the bottom of the frame was on top and the top of the frame was on bottom so everyone started booing and throwing popcorn. I shouted "I don't see what you guys are complaining about. We're getting twice the movie." and everyone in the theater laughed. I was so proud of myself.

Also, my audience cheered at:

- The Joker's first appearance (Whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you stranger)
- Scarecrow
- Batman's first appearance
- The Pencil Trick
- The Batpod reversing
- Gordon
- The hospital explosion

And there was a five minute standing ovation at the end.

It approaches two-thirty in the morning, and I am about to begin watching No Country For Old Men. I've been working on my latest short story titled, "The Rather Peculiar Condition," for several hours now. I'll let you all know if I get it up on any pages or into any magazines. Anyway, I haven't seen No Country For Old Men since it was in theatres. I saw it four times and decided to give it a break. I've been dying to watch it lately. Tommy Lee Jones should have been nominated and won for this film, in my opinion. He should have just beat out Paul Dano, who missed a much deserved nomination as well.

I finally got around to The Last King of Scotland this week, and I must say that Forest Whitaker, who I am a big fan of, did exactly what I expected. One of those performances that is either so good you forget to acknowledge each and every moment, it transcends and becomes a piece of art, or a guy doing an accent and getting worked up. It's tough to tell. All I could see clearly was that James McAvoy has burst into the spotlight for a reason that, with the exception of Atonement, he is yet to capitalize on for the people who loved him in this movie first. Actually, I suppose he got famous because lots of people liked him in The Chronicles of Narnia. I remember the women in my family saying, "whose that cute guy with the accent (and donkey legs)?"

I don't know. That's it.
