Are you there, bloggers? It's me, Andy

I'm not sure if anybody is still reading this blog, but I wanted to pop in to say a quick hello and inform everybody that, yes, I am still alive.

The reason behind my disappearance is a simple one: I got a new gig. It's a full-time gig, one that no longer allows me the time necessary to keep up with the Oscar race. it kills me to say this, because for six years it was all I could ever think about. but it isn't fair to anyone -- especially my readers, however many are left -- to keep going at such a half-assed rate.

i thank everyone who read my blog over the years, and i sincerely apologize for being MIA since June. it wasn't my intention to leave anyone hanging; i just never found the right time to post again -- until now, anyway.

i won't delete Oscar and the City just yet, but Everything Oscar! will be shutting down shortly after I save a few things and all that fun stuff. again, i thank you all for sticking by me, and i would love to hear from you guys -- well, except for the person who kept posting profanities. let me know if you're still out there (15-year-old blogger? or are you now 24-year-old blogger?)

oh, and in case anyone cares, I totally give the thumbs up to the Academy for awarding the best film of 2009, 'The Hurt Locker.' in fact, here are my own personal choices from the past year:

Best Picture: 'The Hurt Locker'
Best Director: Kathryn Bigelow, 'The Hurt Locker'
Best Actor: Colin Firth, 'A Single Man' (although cheers to Jeff Bridges for finally taking home an Oscar, even if 'Crazy Heart' was a bit simplistic and, uh, irrational. don't get me started on Maggie Gyllenhaal's nomination ...)
Best Actress: Carey Mulligan, 'An Education'
Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz, 'Inglourious Basterds' (runner-up: Anthony Mackie, 'The Hurt Locker' -- BEYOND robbed)
Best Supporting Actress: Julianne Moore, 'A Single Man' (runner-up: Anna Kendrick, 'Up in the Air.' Mo'Nique ranked fourth on my ballot ... I think.)

that's about it for now. i hope you all are doing well. thanks, and happy blogging!

andy.

Thanks for dropping a line, finally LOL. Good luck with your new gig, whatever it may be! And nice to see you enjoyed A Single Man as much as I did (or the performances anyway).

Try posting blog updates when you can, it's always been a good time reading your stuff and participating in the comments. Oh and, um....you didn't ever happen to tally those last couple Reader's Choice Oscar snubs, did you?? :P

Great internet site!

Nearly everyone needs to obtain insurance at one time or another, whether it is
auto insurance, life insurance, health insurance, or homeowners insurance.
These times it is more simplified than ever to acquire complimentary insurance quotes from various
companies in order to find the best deal. You can also learn how to preserve
lots of money in free petrol when you get your insurance price quotations.

I have 3,000 emails in my in-box, so no, I haven't gotten to Reader's Choice yet. ha.

it would be nice to use this blog to check in on the Oscar race, but again, I can't follow it as religiously as I have in the past.

hmm, what else can I update you guys with? I saw 'Shutter Island,' but I still don't know what to make of it. I kind of liked it, but also kind of thought it was a load of hooey. (Sorry, Marty!)

Yeah, this place has sort of become "general oscar discussion" in your absence (if you don't remember me I was Burn After Reading or something anonymous like that). I now have a blog that's updated at LEAST twice as much as this one, but still gets far fewer hits. It's pretty disheartening.

Isn't your new gig on AOL? I'm sure Oliver and I found you there...

Sorry, but it was all just very rude of you. That took you all of 5 minutes to type up? In nine months time your new full-time gig takes up so much of your time you can't take 5 minutes out to say "hey, it's me, I'm really busy at the moment, no updates for a while"?

Some people here showed genuine concern and whatnot. I don't mind if your new job doesn't allow you the time to keep up with the site, but surely you had the time to actually mention this. I hope your new job does not involve any form of communications or that you in any way represent anyone. It was quite lazy and inconsiderate of you.

Totally. I meant to write a lot sooner, but I kept avoiding it. There's no excuse, really (although I was -- and still am -- incredibly busy). But I do apologize.

Great to hear from you Andy!!!

(and by the way, I think that by now 15 year old blogger is 50 year old blogger! ;) ).

I'm sad to hear that Everything Oscar will go away. I have loved that site for many years. Your predictions, your year in review articles etc.

But all good things come to and end. Or maybe not. Hopefully you will update the blog now and then. No matter what, it's good to hear from you again in here.
