"Sweeney Todd" Clips

"Sweeney Todd" enthusiasts looking to see Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and others in action, this is the place to do it.

I'll admit the mood looks enticing, and so does Alan Rickman, but what troubles me most is the singing. Of course, we all know by now that Depp and Bonham Carter aren't Broadway vets, but juding from "A Little Priest" and "Epiphany" it doesn't even sound like the TRIED to sing, which is frustrating to say the least.

But maybe it'll sound better when all the pieces are put together. Who knows?

What about you? What did you think of the "Sweeney" clips?

Is it just me or do Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter look like each other in drag?

In don't mean just in these clips, but in day to day life.

Is it just my ultra-shitty computer, or are these clips really bad quality?

After watching these clips, I'm actually worried about the opposite. Their singing is quite brilliant, but their acting looks awful. Part of this is because the sound mixing sorta sucks, and the lip-syncing is a bit off. The make-up is pretty bad too, making them look far too unreal. Far above that is that Depp and Carter both don't seem used to acting while the singing is going on; it's like the process of moving their mouths is distracting them.

I learned my mistake from past movies not to watch clips so I'm gonna hold out on these and enjoy the movie when it opens...

I think Helena is in, and could win in Supporting. She has been around for ages and never won. Only nominated once. then again her performance looks so effortless they may not notice. That problem with Chameleons

Not crazy about what I saw. They look like Halloween characters, not real people.

I miss Lansbury's kooky crazy I'm harmless although I'm making pies out of dead people kind of insanity. Like she has the IQ of a child. "Ideas just keep popping into my head!"

HBC and Depp look and seem to act like what they are. I find that a little boring.

It looks to be trying too hard to be Burtonesque.
And above all, the singing. I'm sorry, I expect Sondheim to be sung well. Period.

i think the clips shouldnt become a factor in our minds just yet. not that the clips were bad, but yes, sondheim deserves the best. it won't be another charlie and the chocolate factory, and tim burton with alan rickman... it's insane. even with nine clips, two trailers and multiple featurettes, theres no way to tell how good of a film this is actually going to be.

i'm absolutley heartbroken that christopher lee's voice won't be heard singing the classic ballad.

hold your heads up high, the film is too perfect on paper to let something like footage of the film get you down.

(remember when sam mendes was attatched to direct it? and no matter how much i love helena bonham carter, if the director's significant other is to play lovett... oh, kate winslet...)

Saw the trailer in a theater. Looks to have that Burtonesque atmosphere a great look and, to my pleasant surprise, the great Timothy Spall. But I'm deeply, deeply, skeptical about the singing.
